Legal and moral support to Fakinisha to retrieve her belongings and live independently - Role of Iluppur Jamaat, Pudukottai

Fakinisha being the eldest daughter of Mohammed Ismail and Mumtaj Begam of Annavasal, Pudukkottai District of Tamil Nadu, India, was married to Nizam Mohamed. Fakinisha has two sisters one is physically disabled and another is a destitute. Her husband tortured her for dowry and refused to give money to buy milk for her child. She approached STEPS for protection. Moreover her husband took all her belongings Dress, jewels, utensils and other valuables in a Mosque at Ilupur, Pudukottai for his debt. STEPS along with the police personnel got her things back from the mosque. STEPS has taken lot of efforts in convincing her orthodox family, for allowing Fakinisha to come out for employment for her survival. Now she is working Malaysia, as a servant maid.
